And 1 gong for each half hour. Everything on this clock is original, including the old brass bezel, pendulum and dial assembly, which is in good condition but the bezel and pendulum are tarnished. The face has some scratches on the paper around the key holes, loss of colour on the numerals and there are some arrows drawn on the face.
Most of the label on the back has survived throughout the decades and gives detailed instructions on how to set the clock and keep it running. There is an original label on the inside of the case that is also in mostly there condition. The glass door is not cracked or dinged. The gold gilding on the glass door has some loss on the right hand side and is beautifully detailed!
The brass hinges and latch on the cover are original. The case is in very good condition for its age and is heavily hand carved, but the varnish has degraded from most likely heat from direct sun or from heat from being above a fireplace for many decades. A beautiful looking working clock that comes complete with a key. If someone knows, please let me know!
