Antique March 1901 Seth Thomas Adamantine Clock RESTORED
This astounding Seth Thomas Adamantine NO. 718 clock is being presented for sale! This beautiful timepiece dates to March of 1901, and features a green, gold/orange, and black Adamantine finish, which has been meticulously restored to factory condition. The case retains its completely original finish, which has been polished and buffed using Kenosha Clocks' unique five step Adamantine restoration process, bringing back the original high luster Adamantine finish. The ornamentation of the case suffered a lot of damage and had to be refinished, but the color is original and an "antiqued" look was added.
The new paper dial is a lovely addition, and the original glass is present in the bezel, which closes nicely around the dial pan. The hands have been re-blued, as well.
The scrolling designs in the case have also been hand painted with gold leaf to show off the craftsmanship of Seth Thomas. Everything you see is exactly as it was from the factory in 1901! One special feature about this clock is the lyre-type movement, which was phased out of use by Seth Thomas in 1901, making this one of the final clocks to have this movement installed. The movement has been completely overhauled (disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, polished, pivots polished/burnished, reassembled, oiled) and has been tested for several weeks to ensure perfect operation and accurate timekeeping! It strikes the deep cathedral gong once at the half hour, and counts the hours at the top of the hour.
