Dial, movement & bob are all branded. City Series clocks are very collectible. Add to that the beauty of the silver pendulum bob with it's gold ST badge, the shiny true bell, with the very nicely aged original finish Walnut case and you have a very desirable clock. This clock has variations from the clocks in the catalog from 1880 & 1884 that suggest this is an earlier, perhaps 1st generation clock. The biggest different is the the movement, resulting in no key holes in the dial, but in the wood surround. The base, columns and wood surround all have variations. Also, this clock has a true bell, not wire as the example in Ly's guide. All this & the patent date on the dial, which is missing on the 1884 clock, suggests that this is from an earlier year for which we have no catalog available.
The condition is very good for 140 years old. Runs eagerly & strikes properly. Case is solid, no cracks or chips.
Glass is not old wavy. Examine the photos, they are part of the description. Size: 17 7/8" h x 11 38" w x 5 1/4 d. Weight: 6 lbs 13 oz. NOTE: This clock is in running condition, unless otherwise stated.
Therefore, we cannot guarantee that the clock will be in running condition when it arrives at your home. If you are not experienced with pendulum clocks, you may need a professional clockmaker, or repair person for setup of the clock. That being said we are confident that this is a serviceable clock, worthy of your investment.
