A third function using the small end of the key is to adjust the minutes, too fast or too slow. This clock was losing a minute every few days. Over 100 years old this clock is in great working order. It gongs on the hour and chimes on the half hour. Once I set it and leveled it the pendulum swings consistently.
The Adamantine is in very good condition and could use a cleaning with Tung Oil. There is a scratch on front bottom and the two front corners have small issues. The paper face is in very good condition.
The adjustment key hole is missing a tiny brass ring. There you can see the paper worn. This clock has a worn label on back that says patented 1880, the same year they started using Adamantine Veneer for.
This clock was made between 1880 and 1900. One last thing is some tiny brads on the small blocks above and below columns. Don't know what they are for. Does not detract from this beautiful clock. The item "Seth Thomas Light Brown Adamantine Mantel Clock late 1800's WORKS Great" is in sale since Saturday, June 29, 2019.
