Seth Thomas Sharon Mantle Clock 1947

  

The clock measures approximately 9 inches long by 4.75 inches wide and 14 inches high. This Seth Thomas "Sharon" Mantle Clock, Model 7E, has an interesting history. The clock was a wedding gift to my parents in 1947. There was a blackout in New YorkCity along with the entire Northeast on November 9, 1965.

When the power was restored, the clock would no longer run. I was always told by my parents that it was cost prohibitive to repair the clock. The clock was stored inside a closet in 1965 and remained there until my mother passed away in May of 2019, which is why the clock is in such beautiful condition. Please examine the four digital photographs included in this listing for condition as they are part of this description.

I inherited the clock and started to research the clock in August of 2020 and found that most, if not all, of the Model 7E Sharon Clocks had been converted to battery powered units. I then carefully transferred the mechanical portion over to my parent's clock. The clock was then ultrasonically cleaned and lubricated on 09/26/20 and has been happily ticking away and keeping accurate time on my mantle since then. I have a key that works, but I'm not sure that it's the original key for a Seth Thomas Sharon Clock, Model 7W.
