The case is walnut with leaf carved scrolls on the top and sides. On the back is a date stamp of 1899 L (we think) which means December.
There is two partial parts of a label. The dial is a 6 paper dial with black Roman numerals in great condition.The brass dial ring (aka pie crust) is beautifully decorated. The movement is spring driven 8 day time and alarm. The alarm is a rare feature and was special ordered. This alarm strikes BOTH a gong and bell at the same time! It is a Winward's Patent alarm, made for the British market, and is a long duration alarm that runs where the strike train would normally be.
Shut off is via a lever on the top. This advertisement came from a London publication, Robert M. Marples & Sons catalogue, dated 1899. The pendulum is a star burst pattern. There is a label inside on the bottom.
