Vintage Seth Thomas Chrome Helmsman Ships Weather Barometer & Bell Clock + Stand

  

It WAS running fine (including the chimes) earlier this year, but I can seem to get it going again, so hoping there will. Only need a minor adjustment to get it going again. Clock comes with a wind key! The Strike function, if working, would have a very unusual chime sequence for maritime "watch" purposes.

Here's the very interesting chime sequence this clock uses for its intended maritime use. A single bell denoted the end of the first half-hour, and one bell was added each half-hour. Eight bells, therefore, signaled the end of each four-hour watch. The four hour watch periods ended at 4:00, 8:00, and 12:00, so here's the chime sequence for each half hour.

8 bells: 12:00, 4:00, 8:00. 1 bell: 12:30, 4:30, 8:30.

2 bells: 1:00, 5:00, 9:00. 3 bells: 1:30, 5:30, 9:30.

4 bells: 2:00, 6:00, 10:00. 5 bells: 2:30, 6:30, 10:30.

6 bells: 3:00, 7:00, 11:00. 7 bells: 3:30, 7:30, 11:30. Cosmetically (the chromed case), the clock is in fine condition and looks very little used, despite the age.

There's very little wear on the clock face, so it appears this clock wasn't wound (used) very much! Base is about 19.25" long, by about 2.5" deep and just under 9 tall to the top of the clock (or barometer).

The clock and barometer are about 6" in diameter (at the back), and just under 5.5" at the front (not including the decorative steering wheel) part. Combined with the base, the entire unit weighs about 8.5 lbs! This is a super well made and great looking maritime clock/barometer. Besides it's not running state, the only other (minor) condition issue that I can see are the barometer is missing its 2 mounting screws to the base, and the back of the wood base has a missing section of wood.
