Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle Clock 1917 Serviced and Running. This is a nice condition and rare to find "Adamantine" finish 8 day time and strike mantle clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. In Thomaston, Connecticut in 1917.

This clock features the original signed Seth Thomas 8 day time and strike movement, which has been cleaned and is in good running condition, keeping time and striking properly, counting the hour, i. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc. On an antique cathedral gong, and announcing the half hour with a single toll.

It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. The simulated rosewood or red marble case is a rare to find high bonnet top model that you rarely, if ever, see. The "Adamantine" finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800's, is in very nice shape for its age. You may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges, and some cracking here and there, with minor dings, and scuffs, touch ups, etc. Which is the nature of the Adamantine finish.

It is a thin laminate over wood and so shrinks, cracks and dents fairly easily with just normal use over time. However, although this clock is obviously aged being close to a hundred and ten years old, the Adamantine, as stated, is in very good condition, as can be seen in the pictures. The measurements are 17 ¼" wide x 10 ½" high x 6 deep. The solid brass bezel and painted dial assembly is in very nice condition. The signed Seth Thomas dial shows some age and wear but is very nice for its age.

This clock comes complete with the key and pendulum and is ready to place up on the mantle and enjoy. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem.

All sales are final (with the exception noted below). It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition.

If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. If a clock is running properly when it arrives, that is about the best we can do. All sales for this type of item are final. We try to describe everything exactly as it is and if we do something wrong, we will make it right. We do not use our computers on Sunday, the Lord's day, but will answer any emails Monday through Saturday and do whatever we can to resolve any problems.
