Antique Seth Thomas Butternut Adamantine Clock Made in 1893. This is a very majestic looking clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. This is the actual date of manufacture stamped on the bottom board, and not a patent date. It is a complete clock with the original movement that has been cleaned and runs well.

The butternut Adamantine finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800's, is in very good shape for its age. You will see a little shrinkage at the corners and edges as well some cracking and light denting here and there, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish.

It is a thin laminate and so shrinks and cracks over time. Overall though, the condition of this clock is remarkable. The solid brass dial and bezel assembly has been shined, but the dial still shows some light staining or shading.

As stated, this clock runs well, keeps time and gongs properly. It counts each hour on the original gong, i. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc. And announces each half hour with a single toll.

This is a neat old cathedral style gong that sounds just as it did when its first owners heard it in the early 1890's. This clock measures 16 ½" wide x 11 ¾" high x 6 ½ deep.

It also comes complete with a key and pendulum and is ready to set up on the mantle and enjoy. This helps insure that the new owner will have a satifying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final, (with the exception noted below). It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition.
