Excellent condition, keeps good time, chimes properly, but needs work. Case in fantastic original condition, with no cracks, splits etc.Very minor wear with age. The original convex crystal is in perfect condition with good hinges and latch. The dial is showing some wear and discoloration. The hourly strike mechanism is not working.
The spring is broken or detached. The pendulum hanger is just slightly too long or adjusted too low. I decided not to try adjusting the length of the hanger because I was afraid of damaging the works.
In order to raise the pendulum slightly so it would clear the bottom of the clock case and swing freely, I crimped the top of the pendulum bob. The lever that turns off the chimes needs to be adjusted. The chimes work perfectly and have wonderful sound, but cannot currently be silenced.
Unsure whether the fast/slow adjustment is working. Sonora clocks are known for several distinguishing features. The Westminster chimes use bells instead of rods for a much richer sound than typical chiming clocks. This clock also features Seth Thomas's high gloss adamantine finish over wood grain. The finish on this particular clock is exceptional. Also included with this clock is a winding key with one end intended for fast/slow adjustment, and two pendulums. Weight: 13 pounds, 5 ounces.
