Seth Thomas Cream & Brown Adamantine Mantle Clock. This clock was made by Seth Thomas Clock Company of Thomaston Connecticut. The case is made of beautifully colored Adamantine.

Seth Thomas partnered with The Celluloid Manufacturing Company in 1882 and started using adamantine on their clocks. Adamantine is a celluloid veneer that resembles marble or alabaster. Cream colored adamantine with swirls of browns and orange, some call it " Tortoise shell" or "Marble". 8 day Head and Shoulders movement that strikes on a gong every half hour and counts out the hours. Movement has been completely overhauled and comes with a run guarantee. Please see video below images for demonstration of sound. Paper dial with black Roman numerals. Brass bezel, Chapter ring, 1/2 columns, lion heads, and cute claw feet. Original Seth Thomas " coffee can lid" on back. Original Seth Thomas label on the bottom. Stamped 4981 J (backwards means made in 1894 in October) on the bottom. Dimensions are Height 12", Width 17", Depth 7, and Weight 5 lbs.
