Seth Thomas Ogee Shelf Clock w Original Reverse Painting on Glass 1800s. Reverse glass painting of a castle scene on the bottom window. Ogee case, made in Plymouth Hollow, glasses puttied in. Dial is metal, and two rings drawn around time track with dots for minute marks. Early features of dial are tapered numerals 3, 4, and 8, with small winding holes (8.2 mm). Movement type 1.243 (the earliest type). Measures: Height 25-7/8", width 15-5/8", depth 4-3/8. The case has nicks, chips, scratches in the veneer and wood back.
The Door opens with no problems, the putty around the windows is old and dirty. The painting on the glass has large and small spots of the paint missing. The face has patina, scratches, and spots of color missing. It does not keep time, all the parts move and it dings when it is supposed to when dial is turned.
