Fully Restored Seth Thomas Adamantine Clock
Fully Restored Seth Thomas Adamantine Clock. This beautiful multiple level (unusual) Seth Thomas clock has been professionally restored.
The case and movement were lovingly brought back to a beautiful and completely functional condition. There are a couple of case spots that are difficult to see so I have circled these in red in the photo.
To get the Adamantine polished properly requires several hours of elbow grease, manually rubbing in a polish, creating friction heat then wiping off the old dirt and grime. All the hardware is attended to. The bezel with its old wavy glass is polished but the now attractively aged creamy original dial remains in place.
The movement had marks from an old manner of closing holes but these areas were still capable of getting proper bushings. Every bushing is carefully inspected, and burnished. Every pivot is placed on the lathe and brought back to a proper smoothness with the pivot file and burnishing. The escapement teeth are smoothed out and the pallet polished.
The mainsprings are cleaned separately from the ultrasonically cleaned movement parts. Once clean and dry I use Keystone grease on the mainsprings, check the clicks and reassemble the movement. The case is checked for any loose joints so that the Cathedral gong will have its best sound. The testing on a heavy stand is done to check for any issues and to fine tune the escapement to a proper depth of engagement.
Now there is a beautiful, fully restored and reliable Seth Thomas Adamantine clock that will be a prize in a special place in your home. This comes with the original pendulum but a proper replacement key. The clock strikes a deep, resonant gong for the hours and a bell once on the half hour.
