VINTAGE MODERN ART DECO SETH THOMAS "SPOT TIME" WALL CLOCK SPACE AGE - WORKS! Rare - Seth Thomas Wall Clock.

Measures 10 1/2'' x 10 1/2 approx. This is a super cool unique vintage Modern Art Deco Seth Thomas battery operated wall clock. Works on one "C" battery not included. Keeps time and runs like a champ.

Made of mostly heavy plastic she sadly shows a lot of scratches and blemished to the front face. Including one impact fracture (crack) and some "flea bites" around the outside edge (see pics).

She runs great and keeps time. The made in Japan movement appears to in very good working order. I found the rotating disk with hole revealing the hour, quite a unique approach in the telling of time.

Despite my extensive searching, I was not able to find any information on this particular Model E685-267B of Seth Thomas clock. This is truly a rare find. She has clean high contrasting graphics of the hour disk, hands, and time markings (Helvetica font) simple square proportion, and full rounded corners.

The clock reminds me of the early 70s work by the likes of Columbo, Vignelli, Magistretti, Manzu and Ferrieri. Seth Thomas (17851859) was an American clock maker and a pioneer of mass production. He was born in Wolcott, Connecticut were he began working for clock-maker Eli Terry in 1807. Seth Thomas was conservative in managing the companys growth, taking advantage of the new ideas of others he was able to enjoy financial stability. After his death, his sons abandoned their fathers conservative approach and introduced several new styles.

In 1930 Seth Thomas Clock Company was united to the Western Clock Company under the General Time Instruments Corporation. PLEASE SEE PICS AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.
