Here is a most beautiful and unique Seth Thomas "WALES" from their City Series that has been fully and properly restored both inside and out and is most splendid! The mahogany cabinet has been thoroughly cleaned and reconditioned and is in great original condition with few blemishes. The original ST # 48R fine round movement has been completely disassembled, all parts cleaned ultrasonically, the wheels, pivots and pinions were all cleaned and polished, and several bushings were properly added.
All of the brass including the plates have been hand polished. The mainsprings that power the clock were removed from their barrels and properly cleaned and greased, the time side mainspring was replaced with a brand new one. The movement then reassembled, adjusted and oiled properly and thoroughly tested. It keeps very good time and strikes pleasantly as it should once on the half hour and the correct number of strikes on the hour. The Brass bezel has been polished and presents beautifully. The porcelain dial is in very good condition with a minute chip near the the f/s adjustment arbor that is hardly noticeable. This is a most splendid Seth Thomas classic City series Wales that could be proudly displayed and enjoyed as a functional time piece for many generations. This comes with 2-sided key, small end for fast/slow adjustment. The clock needs to be wound weekly on both arbors. As with all of my clocks, I would be available for any help needed with setup and ongoing care.
