Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle Clock Early 1900's Serviced & Running. This is another nice condition "Adamantine" finish 8 day time and strike mantle clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co.
In Thomaston, Connecticut during the earlier 1900's (pre our involvement in WWI). This clock features the original signed Seth Thomas #89 series movement, which has been cleaned and serviced, and is in good running condition, keeping time and striking properly, counting the hour, i. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc.
On an antique cathedral gong, and announcing the half hour with a single toll. It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. The green with orange adamantine trim against the black background is a classic combination that Seth Thomas used, but the slightly larger than usual deluxe case and elaborate design are a little scarcer to find. It has six celluloid columns, three on either side of the dial, lion's heads on the sides and paw feet up front. The "Adamantine" finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800's, is in very nice shape for its age.
You may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges, and some cracking here and there, with minor dings, and scuffs, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish. It is a thin laminate over soft wood and so shrinks, cracks and dents fairly easily with just normal use over time. However, although this clock is obviously aged being over a hundred old, the Adamantine is in very good condition, as can be seen in the pictures. The measurements are 18 ¼" wide x 11 ½" high x 7 deep. The signed dial and bezel assembly is very nice. The original paper dial is in amazing shape with only minor age and staining. This clock comes complete with the key and the original pendulum, and is ready to place up on the mantle and enjoy. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final (with the exception noted below).
It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted.
