No key but it does wind without issues. (I only have the one key and it is from my grandfathers clock-) The wind on the left hand side will slip if wound to fast - but will wind if you turn slowly. Seth Thomas 8 day time and strike clock movement. This model stamped 89AD was used in adamantine and wooden cased mantel clocks starting in c. 1915 and into the c.
