Antique Seth Thomas Metal Mantle Clock
Offering a antique 8 day Seth Thomas mantle clock in a cast iron case and Egyptian Revival style. The clock is 14 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Very heavy piece at approx 15 pounds. The Seth Thomas marked clock movement has been disassembled, cleaned and then tested for two weeks to verify good timekeeping and chiming. The clock strikes a bell once at the half hour and then counts the number of the hour using the same bell. The metal case presents well given the clock was probably made in the late 1800's. The dial is porcelain and in good shape, does have minor chipping around the winding holes.
The dial carries the name Mitchell Vance, New York which was likely the retailer's name. Both the front glass over the dial and the rear door glass are both beveled and in good condition.
