Antique Seth Thomas Rosewood Adamantine 8 Day Clock Early 1900's Runs Good. Here is another nice condition "Adamantine" finish 8 day time and strike mantle clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. In Thomaston, Connecticut during the early 1900's. This clock is in a red, wood-grain style Adamantine finish which may have been designed to simulate rosewood.
The brass bezel and dial assembly is in nice shape for its age. The paper part of the dial has been replaced but the original brass dial pan remains. This clock features the original signed Seth Thomas #89 movement, which has been cleaned and is in good running condition, keeping time and striking properly, counting the hour, i.
1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc. On an antique cathedral style gong and announcing the half hour with a single toll. It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. The "Adamantine" finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800's, is in very good shape for its age. Still, you may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges as well as a few minor dings, dents or scuffs and uneven shading, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish, but all in all the condition of this cabinet is very good for being over a hundred years old.
It comes complete with a key and the original pendulum and is ready to place up on the mantle and enjoy. The measurements are 16" wide x 11" high x 7 deep.
This helps insure that the new owner will have a satifying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem.
All sales are final, (with the exception noted below). It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. If a clock is running properly when it arrives... Thats about the best we can do.
