Early Seth Thomas 8 Day T, S and Alarm Mantle Clock Circa 1860's. This is a post Civil War collectors clock made right after 1866, but most likely before 1870. It still has the original signed Seth Thomas 8 day time, strike and alarm movement that is still running, keeping time and gonging properly. It still has the original label inside as well as what appears to be the original glasses (the bottom glass being mirrored).
The paper dial is a replacement over the original zinc dial plate. The rosewood veneer is mostly in good condition, but it is cracked where it wraps around some of the rounded areas. You may be able to see it in the pictures.
Up on the mantle, these cracks would be very hard to spot. There may also be veneer chips here and there as well as touch ups, etc. Much like what you would have to expect to find on a 145 year old clock. It appears to have a light coat of poly over the original shellac finish which has undoubtedly helped to preserve it. The case measures 16 tall x.This clock has what appears to be the original pendulum and a key that fits. This helps insure that the new owner will have a satifying experience.
Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final, (with the exception noted below). It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. If a clock is running properly when it arrives...
